Pickleball in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Fort Smith players have two practical choices on the east side of the metro: free outdoor courts at Chaffee Crossing and scheduled indoor or outdoor play at The Hangout. The public complex works well for a group that already has a game. The Hangout is the stronger entry point for lessons, open play, ladders, and solo players.

Where to Play Pickleball in Fort Smith

  • The Hangout Fitness & Sports, 5400 Gary Street, Fort Smith, has indoor and outdoor pickleball courts. Its program includes open play, ladder play, tournaments, and instruction. Open play is free for members, and non-members can join for a $15 drop-in fee. No court reservation or prearranged group is needed for open play.
  • Chaffee Pickleball Complex, 7220 Mahogany Avenue, Barling, is a city park facility with outdoor pickleball courts. The courts are open daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM and are first come, first served. Bring partners because ordinary court access is not the same as organized open play.

Getting Started

New players should start at The Hangout. Group and private pickleball lessons are available by appointment, and open play gives players a practical next step after learning the basics. Use the pickleball program page to see the pros and arrange instruction. Additional local instructors are listed in the Coaches section.

Open Play and Organized Pickleball

The Hangout runs open-play nights for all levels, men's ladder play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and women's ladder play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The exact session times appear on its current pickleball schedule. Tournaments also appear through the same program.

Visiting Fort Smith and Looking for a Game?

If you are traveling alone, choose an open-play session at The Hangout. Non-members can pay the drop-in fee, and the paddle line moves players into games without a four-person group. If you already have partners and prefer outdoor play, Chaffee Pickleball Complex is the simple public option.
